Footnotes
-
There are 347 active editions of Wikipedia, but that does not translate into 347 unique languages. For example, there is an edition in English and an edition in Simple English, different editions of Belarusan (using the Narkamaŭka and Taraškievica orthographies), different editions of Norwegian (using the Nynorsk and Bokmål orthographies), etc.
Additionally, there are 16 closed editions of Wikipedia, in languages for which there are not enough speakers for sustainment (for example, Marshallese and Akan). Four editions were outright deleted (examples include the Moldovian Wikipedia and the Siberian Wikipedia) ↩ -
For some nearly extinct languages, such as the Manchu language, no Wikipedia editions have ever been created. ↩
-
Registration is required for certain tasks, such as editing protected pages, creating pages on the English Wikipedia, and uploading files. ↩

Most text is also dual-licensed under GFDL; media licensing varies. ↩
